Short introduction
I came to visual art later in life after discovering fluid art and realizing that meaningful visual expression did not require traditional drawing skills. Living with aphantasia—a blind mind’s eye—I had long assumed that visual art was beyond my reach. Fluid techniques opened another path, one rooted in process, experimentation, and discovery.
Artistic approach
My professional life has centered on speech and communication. Both speech and art can advocate, question, and connect, but they do so differently. Speech often guides an audience toward a conclusion. Art gives viewers room to bring their own memories, experiences, and interpretations to the work. I create art to make opportunities for connection. Sometimes that connection begins with grief, memory, identity, or emotional inheritance. At other times, it begins with color, movement, beauty, companionship, or simple curiosity.
Brief biography
Wade Hescht is a Houston-area educator and contemporary mixed-media artist. His practice includes fluid acrylics, textured surfaces, resin, stenciled imagery, and found or applied materials. He creates from a home-based workspace and is continuing to develop a body of work centered on connection, reflection, and personal interpretation.
